Fuel Additives for winter maintenance

In the world of automotive maintenance, fuel additives play a crucial role in optimizing engine performance and ensuring longevity. Diesel additives, such as Power Service products, and gas additives like Motor Muscle (which is a Top Tier additive), have gained popularity among vehicle enthusiasts and everyday drivers alike. We utilize both of these brands to give you the best in fuel additives. In this blog post, we'll take a closer look at the additives that Ed Staub & Sons offers, exploring their benefits, usage, and the science behind their effectiveness.

Understanding Diesel Additives: Power Service Products

Power Service is a renowned brand that specializes in diesel additives, aiming to enhance the efficiency and reliability of diesel engines. The primary components of Power Service diesel additives include cetane boosters, lubricity agents, and anti-gel formulations.

Cetane Boosters and Anti-Gel Formulas:

Cetane is a measure of the ignition quality of diesel fuel. Diesel Fuel Supplement +Cetane Boost (endorsed by Cummins) is a winterizer/antigel that is used in the cold winter months to prevent fuel gelling and keep fuel-filters from plugging with ice and wax. When temperatures drop, paraffin (wax) in ULSD fuel will thicken and crystallize, stopping fuel from flowing through the engine, and water in the fuel can freeze on the facings of fuel-filters. This formula can prevent gelling and fuel-filter icing, allowing your engine to stay running. It’s safe to use in all diesel engines and effective in all diesel fuels.

Diesel Fuel Supplement +Cetane Boost is intended for use only during cold winter months when temperatures drop below +30F. Use Diesel Kleen +Cetane Boost (also endorsed by Cummins) for peak performance in non-winter months. For extra precaution, you can use both of these products at the same time in your engine. If your vehicle will not start or gain power in cold temperatures, we recommend using Diesel 911, another great product that can reliquify gelled fuel. This Winter Rescue Formula also de-ices frozen fuel-filters to restore the flow of diesel fuel to an engine.

Understanding Gas Additives: Motor Muscle

Motor Muscle Gasoline Supplement is our unleaded fuel additive that we offer for those seeking to optimize the performance of gasoline engines.  All Ed Staub & Sons cardlocks contain Motor Muscle treated fuel in the unleaded gas pumps.

This additive contains combustion enhancers that promote more complete and efficient burning of fuel. Additionally, it will clean dirty engines. Over time, gasoline engines can accumulate deposits in the fuel system, including fuel injectors and intake valves. Motor Muscle incorporates fuel system cleaners that help remove these deposits, restoring optimal fuel flow and combustion. Other benefits of Motor Muscle include better acceleration, fuel efficiency, and prevents driving upsets such as rough idle, hesitation and stalling.

Whether you drive a diesel-powered vehicle or a gasoline engine, the use of additives like Power Service Diesel Additives and Motor Muscle can contribute to enhanced performance, improved fuel efficiency, and increased longevity of your vehicle. It's essential to follow manufacturer recommendations and guidelines when using these additives to ensure optimal results.
